What is Mini Gastric Bypass Procedure? How is it Performed?

It is simpler and takes lower time compared to Roux-n-Y gastric bypass. It is a popular procedure recently. It is an alternative procedure to the gastric bypass. Its complication rate is lower compared to bypass. It causes malabsorbtion and restriction of nutrients.

Technique:

It is performed in general anesthesia. It can be performed with laparoscopic or robotic technique. A narrow and long gastric tube is created from the upper stomach. The small bowel is counted until 200 cm from Treitz ligament. This loop segment of small intestine is anastomosed to the gastric tube. It is a restrictive and malabsorbtive procedure.
