Gastric Sleeve Surgery
This is a restrictive surgical procedure for obesity and metabolism. The purpose of this method is to reduce the volume of the stomach. About 80 percent of the stomach is removed through laparoscopic surgery, leaving a segment the size of the esophagus. Due to the remaining shape of the stomach, this procedure is also called "gastric tube surgery" or "stomach reduction surgery.
Gastric Bypass Surgery
The surgery can be performed laparoscopically or robotically under general anesthesia. First, the stomach is divided into 2 parts and a gastric pouch with a volume of 15-30 ml is left connected to the esophagus. The remaining part of the stomach remains dysfunctional. The small intestine is separated 75 cm further forward, the lower end is sewn to the stomach, and the upper end is sewn 100-150 cm from the lower end. Therefore, the food taken first passes into the small created stomach and from there into the small intestine. Digestive enzymes encounter food 100-150 cm away. This situation causes malabsorption.
Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery
Mini gastric bypass surgery has emerged as an alternative to gastric bypass surgery and has recently gained popularity.
